Safe use of BankID

Before using BankID, look at the address bar in the browser. Real websites have a padlock icon and the address starts with https://. Double-check that the domain is correct (e.g. nav.no, not nav-login.com).

BankID codes, passwords and personal codes should NEVER be shared with anyone. The bank, police or NAV will never ask you for this information.

Choose a personal code that is difficult to guess. Don't use birth date, 1234 or other simple combinations. Only you should know the code.

Make sure the BankID app is always updated to the latest version. Updates contain important security improvements.

When you're done using a service, always log out. This is especially important if you're using a shared computer or someone else's phone.

If you suddenly receive a BankID request without having started anything yourself, it's probably a fraud attempt. Reject the request and contact your bank.
