Apply for sick pay

Go to nav.no and log in with BankID or MinID. Click "Log in" in the top right corner.

After logging in, go to "Ditt sykefravær" (Your sick leave) or look for a notification about a new sick note on the front page. Click on the sick note to open it.

You must confirm the sick note and send it to your employer. Select the correct employer from the list (if you have multiple jobs) and click "Send".

The first 16 days, your employer pays sick pay. After that, you must apply to NAV. You will be notified on nav.no when it's time to apply. Fill out the application with information about work and income.

In the application, you will be asked if you have worked during the sick period, if you have traveled, and if you have received other income. Answer all questions honestly.

When you have filled out everything, click "Submit application". You will receive confirmation that the application has been received.

NAV processes your application. Check nav.no/sykepenger for current processing times. You can see the status of your application under "My cases" on nav.no. The money is paid in arrears.
