Getting started with online banking
Online banking lets you pay bills and check your account from home. Here you learn the basics.
What is online banking?
Online banking is the bank's service on the internet. There you can see how much money you have, pay bills, transfer money between accounts, and much more - without visiting the bank physically.
All Norwegian banks offer online banking, and it's safe to use as long as you follow simple security rules.
Before you start
- You need BankID (on mobile or code device)
- You must have a bank account
- You need internet on computer, tablet or phone
How to get started with online banking

Open the browser and type in the bank's address. For example dnb.no, nordea.no, sparebank1.no, or sbanken.no. Don't click on links in email - always type the address yourself.
Tip!
Save the bank's website as a favorite/bookmark so you can easily find it again.
Security tips for online banking
- Never log in via links in email or SMS
- Only use online banking on your own device, not on public computers
- Always log out when you're done
- Check that the address starts with https:// and has a padlock icon
- Never share BankID codes with anyone
